In the mid 1990’s a group of Carman citizens recognized the need for a facility for seniors in the community.
After much research and discussion, a building project was proposed, a location was secured, and fundraising was initiated. There were gala dinners, golf tournaments, big band dances, talent auctions, and cash calendars as well as generous donations from many businesses and individuals.
Finally, in November 2004, the sod was turned for the new building by Mayor Murray Rinn and building committee members Jim McCutcheon and Audrey Funke.
Less than a year later, on September 28, 2005, the Carman Active Living Centre celebrated its Grand Opening. Pictured below is the original building committee officiating at the ceremonial ribbon cutting.
